After nearly two years of construction, the first phase of the Simpsonville Municipal Complex project is almost complete.
City employees paused operations as they spent the first four days of November moving into a new combined City Hall, police department and fire department headquarters on the 400 block of East Curtis Street in downtown Simpsonville. Operations at the new buildings began Nov. 5 and Simpsonville City Council will start meeting at the location Nov. 12.

Simpsonville’s new City Hall and police department includes a larger area for police dispatch and City Council chambers with floor-to-ceiling windows. The city’s fire headquarters is now housed in a 22,000-square-foot building, which allowed the department to bring its administrative staff under the same roof. The building features a large kitchen, expanded dormitory space, a training room and areas to practice different types of rescue scenarios.

While two of the buildings are operational, the municipal and magistrate courts will move into the new Summary Court building and start operations Dec. 2.
Simpsonville City Park will also remain closed until the week of Thanksgiving. The updated park will feature a smaller dog park, a disc golf course at the back of the property, football fields, and basketball and pickleball courts.
Work on Phase 2 of the municipal complex will begin later this year with the demolition of the old police and fire department buildings to make way for a great lawn and amphitheater. Construction on the project is expected to be completed in spring 2025.
