I find it somewhat ironic, perhaps even sad, that on Page 4 (of the Jan. 13 edition) I read that the Greenville Journal had a short piece on the unincorporated areas of Greenville County losing their recycling program. I turn the page and see the multipage spread on sustainability. Sad to think of all the materials that will be headed to a landfill that are likely very profitable to recycle. Aluminum, steel cans and paper all have very viable markets for reuse. Residents like us that wish to recycle are now forced to bring their materials somewhere at additional expense and Greenville Sanitation gets to continue to to keep the tax monies and provide less services. This issue certainly deserves more attention.
