Greenville County Schools announced the 10 finalists for the 2024-25 Teacher of the Year award March 27.
The process began in the fall when each school selected its Teacher of the Year. The selected nominee completed an application reviewed by screening and selection committees.
The 10 finalists are:
- Lisa Brundridge, special education teacher at Northwest Middle
- Karla Cannon, Spanish teacher at Riverside High
- Brian Maddux, special education teacher at Woodmont High
- Frances McNeely, ninth0-grade algebra teacher at Wade Hampton High
- Katie Murphy, art teacher at East North Street Academy
- Anna Nieto, multilingual learner program teacher at Sevier Middle
- Staci Purvis, art teacher at Berea Elementary
- Bryan Raeckelboom, building construction instructor at Golden Strip Career Center
- Chelsey Troutman, third-grade teacher at Brushy Creek Elementary
- Jessica Yarbro, self-contained classroom teacher at Washington Center
Superintendent Burke Royster surprised the 10 teachers recently. Each finalist received a $100 Visa Gift Card, a beverage tumbler and an umbrella.
“These educators represent the best of what our district provides – innovation, dedication, and professional expertise within our classrooms,” Royster said.
The 10 finalists will next be narrowed down to the final three. The 2024-25 GCS Teacher of the Year will be announced on Aug. 6.
