Here’s a great colorized shot from the Greenville County Historical Society’s Coxe Collection showing the dismantling of the home of Col. S.S. Crittenden, one of the important citizens of Greenville in the 1800s. He wrote the first in-depth history book of Greenville in 1903. This house was on the northeast corner of West Broad and Laurens streets. This is now across from the Peace Center where the Courtyard Marriott garage is. The old post office/City Hall is in the background of this photo.
