The city of Greenville started construction on a new capital improvement project Jan. 6.
Mohawk Drive, Gallivan Street, Cary Street and Chicks Springs Road will receive 5,600 feet of new sidewalk, storm drain upgrades and streetscape improvements. A raised intersection will also be installed at Mohawk Drive and Cary Street.
Construction is expected to take a year to complete and will cause periodic lane closures. Work will begin on Mohawk Drive off Wade Hampton Boulevard and finish on Chick Springs Road at Lotus Court. According to the city, a full closure and detour will also be required during the construction of the raised intersection.
The project will be funded through the city’s Neighborhood Infrastructure Bond. For more information, visit recycle.greenvillesc.gov/Calendar.aspx?EID=15088&month=9&year=2026&day=16&calType=0.
