Mission Statement
The Greenville Zoo Foundation is a nonprofit organization that serves as an independent community-outreach group, the purpose of which is to provide financial, resource and advocacy support for the needs of the Greenville Zoo.
The foundation is dedicated to the Greenville Zoo and the zoo’s commitment to animal care, education, conservation and the enjoyment of the community. The foundation envisions a zoo that will be a place where children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will laugh and learn — a place the community can be proud of, a zoo that continues that tradition by building on the Greenville Zoo’s solid foundation.
The foundation builds on that and brings the vision to life through fundraising and advocacy programs that support the zoo.
Volunteer Opportunities
The success of the Greenville Zoo Foundation’s special events depends heavily on community volunteers. Essential to each event’s success, volunteers take on a variety of duties that may include meeting and directing the public, setting up and serving at events, in addition to other activities the Greenville Zoo Foundation staff designates.
Volunteers are needed for Zoo Fest, Sippin’ Safari and Zoom Through the Zoo.
Giving Opportunities
Every donation makes a difference for our animals, the community and the natural world. Here are several ways to give:
- Donate online at greenvillezoofoundation.org.
- Join the Friends Society: Members receive a zoo membership, invitations to exclusive events, private behind-the-scenes experiences, animal encounters and more. Giving levels start at $500 per year, with each level having its own unique offerings.
- Donor-advised funds: Ask your fund administrator about making a one-time distribution from your donor-advised fund to help support the foundation.
- Charitable rollovers: Taxpayers ages 70½ or older who are required to take a minimum distribution from their retirement account can have their plan administrator contact the foundation and arrange a direct distribution through the foundation’s brokerage account.
- Planned giving: Remembering the Greenville Zoo in your estate planning leaves a legacy and helps ensure the zoo continues to be a source of education and inspiration for future generations.
