NAR reports 3.3% decrease in June home sales
The National Association of Realtors announced home sales decreased 3.3% in June 2023 when compared to May 2023.
NAR found an 18.9% decrease in home sales from June 2022 compared to June 2023.
NAR’s April 2023 pending home sales numbers by region include:
- Northeast — 2% increase
- Midwest — unchanged
- South — 5.4% decrease
- West — 5.1% decrease
“The first half of the year was a downer for sure with sales lower by 23%,” said Lawrence Yun, NAR chief economist. “Fewer Americans were on the move despite the usual life-changing circumstances. The pent-up demand will surely be realized soon, especially if mortgage rates and inventory move favorably. There are simply not enough homes for sale. The market can easily absorb a doubling of inventory.”

After six weeks on the market, The McDaniel, a new townhome development near downtown Greenville, has sold half of the properties available.
The townhomes went on the market on June 8 and will feature private side-by-side garages, balconies and rooftop terraces. Each unit will range from 3,100-4,100 square feet.
“Because they are like nothing else available here in Greenville, we knew that demand for these incredibly luxurious city townhomes would be robust, but the response from buyers, including those already living in the city and newcomers from out-of-state, has been nothing short of astounding,” said Sharon Wilson, broker-in-charge and CEO of Wilson Associates, the development’s exclusive sales partner. “The feedback has been tremendous and we expect to fill all reservations slots soon, so I encourage anyone who may be interested to act quickly.”
