Chef Michael Sibert, owner and executive chef of White Wine & Butter and Anonymous Burgers, has been selected as a chef ambassador for the state of South Carolina. 2024 is the 10th year of the S.C. Chef Ambassadors program.
Gov. Henry McMaster selects the ambassadors each year with the help of the previous year’s ambassadors. Those selected serve a one-year term to highlight South Carolina’s culinary offerings by sharing their knowledge and unique experiences with the public.
The program also honors each chef’s restaurant, acknowledging Anonymous Burgers for Sibert.
Sibert will represent the Upstate in the coming year, beginning with the Southeastern Wildlife Expo (SEWE) in Charleston. He will be joined by local farmer Troy Prosser of Barefoot Acres.
During his tenure as ambassador, Sibert will spotlight the state’s meat and cheese production.
Among those also selected were chef Leslie Rohland of The Cottage Cafe Bakery & Tea Room in Bluffton, and chef Javier Uriarte of Ratio Restaurant in Elgin.
Sibert’s newest spot, Hendrix Chicken & Waffles, will open this year. The eatery will be located in Cartwright Food Hall in the old White Wine & Butter space.
